Meet A’kayla
Before your baby is held, you are held.
Hi, I’m A’kayla, the birth doula and public health professional behind Held by A’kayla.
I’m passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the transition into parenthood with compassionate, evidence based care. My journey into birth work began in 2021, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of supporting families through one of the most meaningful transitions of their lives.
My work is shaped by both birth work and public health. I earned my Master of Public Health in Family and Population Health, along with a Certificate in Social Determinants of Health, to better understand the factors that shape maternal and infant health beyond the delivery room.
That perspective allows me to approach birth not only as a personal experience, but through the lens of health equity, education, advocacy, and community support. I believe every family deserves respectful, culturally responsive care and access to the information they need to make confident decisions.
At Held by A’kayla, my role is to provide steady support, trusted education, and personalized guidance so you can feel informed, prepared, and cared for throughout your journey, from meeting your baby to navigating all that comes beyond birth.
Because my work doesn’t stop at the moment you meet your baby. There is a whole person who is becoming a parent, a family finding its rhythm, and a new chapter unfolding beyond that first hello.
